Become a Member

The Gainesville Area Trial Lawyers Association (GATLA) is dedicated to strengthening and upholding Florida’s civil justice system and protecting the rights of Florida’s citizens and consumers.

We passionately believe that all Floridians benefit when deserving individuals have a fair chance to seek justice in our state’s courts and that Florida’s consumers are made safer when large corporations and industries are held to a high ethical standard and accept fair responsibility for their actions.

Membership Requirements

​Membership to the GATLA shall be on a yearly basis by invitation extended under the direction of the Board of Directors. As such, members must satisfactorily demonstrate that they:

​

  1. Are licensed to practice law in the State of Florida.​

  2. Are a member in good standing of the Florida Bar.

  3. Are a member in good standing with the Florida Justice Association.

  4. Regularly practice plaintiff’s personal injury law in the North Central Florida area as defined by the jurisdictional limits of the First and the Fifth DCAs.

  5. Are of good moral character.

  6. Certify and state by separate written statement that in his or her own personal practice for a continuous period of 6 months preceding such certification none of his or her work load or that of his or her firm has involved or involves the defense of insurance companies, or any other person or entity on appointment from an insurance company, manufacturers, governmental entities, transportation companies or public utilities in personal injury or wrongful death matters.

  7. Certifies that he or she complies with all rules and regulations of The Florida Bar concerning advertising for and solicitation of accident victims and participation in lawyer referral services.

  8. Has made application and paid the established dues of the Association as established from time to time by the Board of Directors and has been approved for membership in the Association.
